Teacher Introduction

To claim the "teacher role" out loud makes me feel like I am pretending to be someone I am not.  I feel that I do not yet possess the presence to confidently claim this role.  Personally, I feel that being a teacher means to present with authority.  At this point in my education I am not ready to make this claim with conviction.

I felt very nervous when I made this claim, that I lacked confidence in what I was saying.  I believe that if a teacher doesn't believe in what they are presenting to their students, then their students will not believe it either.

When I stood and made this statement, I was most surprised that I was actually... standing and making this statement.  I feel like going to school to be a Music Educator and actually presenting yourself as a Music Educator to students are drastically different roles.  Schooling helps you to prepare to teach, but to embody the role of an educator is a skill one needs to learn independently.  I was surprised because I felt that I was not ready to own what I was saying, but I think that my continued schooling will help me prepare to own this role.
